Volunteer: Court Appointed Special Advocates for ChildrenCASA volunteer completes an extensive training program prior to being assigned to a child and continues their education through in-service trainings and special events. After being sworn in as an Officer of the Court, the advocates choose a case that works with their available time and the circumstances surrounding the individual case. An advocate’s commitment on one case can range from a few months to a few years. The duties and responsibilities of an advocate are three-fold: 1) To provide independent information to the juvenile court. 2) To monitor the child’s case plan and speak up for what’s in the child’s best interest. 3) To offer the child a consistent and positive adult relationship.
